A growing need for electricians has been identified in northwestern BC as resource development opportunities increase and as older workers begin to retire from existing positions in established industries. Graduates find employment as electrical apprentices installing and maintaining lighting, heating control, alarm, data and commercial systems in residential, commercial and industrial settings and numerous other related fields.
This full – time, 24 – week competency based program prepares students for entry-level positions as electrical apprentices with contracting companies involved in residential, commercial and industrial construction and maintenance. Students learn to access and utilized resource materials, follow procedures and make sound decisions while installing and maintaining electrical equipment. The program delivers the complete theoretical and practical outcomes of the provincially accredited Level 1 Electrical Work Apprenticeship program.
Participants will gain the formal training to work in the spa industry and will attain sound knowledge around the operation of a salon business. The program prepares students to become a qualified professional in the Esthetics Industry. Students participate in 800 hours of full-time education that includes a combination of theoretical and practical skills. Related theoretical content will be delivered through lectures, demonstrations and various teaching aids in the classroom and will be continuously integrated into the practical work. Students will cover topics such as skincare, facials, hair removal, make-up design, face and body treatments and massage. Students will also learn about the salon business, professional development and personal development. Students will have an authentic industry experience training in a fully-equipped spa where treatments are offered to the public. Upon successful completion of this program students will be prepared to write the B.C. Beauty Council licensing examinations.
