Intro to Health

This 100 hour practical & hands-on course will bring you up close to the exciting and challenging work of health care professionals in the most popular fields of health practice.

Students hone their health practice interests: Family doctor, Cardiologist, Psychiatrist, Lab technician, Ultrasound/X-ray Technician, Dentist, Veterinarian, Nurse, Health Care Assistant, Pharmacist, Physiotherapist, Paramedic, and other.

Following HLPR 101, you will develop a custom success plan to ensure that you are on track to achieve your professional aspirations. Your plan will include grade 11/12 courses, continued university studies, as well as, extra-curricular planning.

  • Location: Smithers (Coast Mountain College)
  • Class time: 1:55pm-  3:10pm
  • Dates: Feb 4th to June 21st
  • Bus leaving Houston daily at 1:00pm returning in Houston at 4:55pm
English 101 University Writing
  • Grade: 12
  • Course credits: 4 (High school + 3 (University)
  • Location: Smithers (Coast Mountain College)
  • Class time: Feb 7th- May 23
  • Dales: 2:30-5:30pm

Upon successful completion, students earn dual credits:

  • full credits for a Grade 12 elective course
  • 3.0 credits from Coast Mountain College for ENGL 101  (University Credit course)
  • This course teaches the fundamentals of writing in the university context with  emphasis on the research essay.  All aspects of composition are reviewed. The methods and tools of research are introduced and practiced in a variety of assignments.  Concentrating on specific topics and interdisciplinary approaches, the course will prepare students in the requirements of university research writing.
  • Directly transferable to AU, CAMO, CAPU, CNC, EC, FDU, KPU, NIC, OC, SFU, TRU, TWU, UBC, UCW, UFV, UNBC, UVIC and VIU
