Engage Sport North in partnership with SD 54 is proud to host an information session on the potential opening of a Canadian Sport School in Smithers. If you are interested in finding out more please register to attend via zoom.
The Canadian Sport School offers student athletes and para-athletes in grades 10-12 an opportunity to balance their academic course load and dry-land strength and conditioning training in a structured, yet flexible environment. Student athletes on a pathway attend their home schools in the morning and attend the Canadian Sport School in the afternoons to complete personalized strength and conditioning training and academic course work, including sport sciences, with the supervision of trained specialists and qualified teachers.
CSS provides an opportunity for student-athletes to use school hours to earn academic credit for;
- Physical training through the IGNITE™ Athlete Development Program – Developing athleticism and new skills in the following areas; Strength Training, Sprint Training and basic gymnastics movements.
- Independent Study Blocks – Daily time for homework completion, quiet study or online learning.
- Sport Performance Seminars – Weekly seminars in the areas of high performance will support the students’ athletic knowledge and development towards success
The Canadian Sport School facilitates a high performance culture amongst like-minded athletes while providing support, coordination and advocacy between student-athletes and their high school teachers and sport coaches.
